Buying your first home starts with a realistic budget. Look beyond the purchase price and factor in registration duties, notary fees, mortgage costs and any renovation work.

Compare several mortgages and find out in advance how large a deposit you will need. With a clear budget you can search more effectively and act quickly when you find the right property.

During a viewing, also check the technical condition, the EPC rating, the electrics, the heating and the planning information. Make sure important conditions are included in your offer or in the sale agreement (compromis).
